Raytheon and Twisted Pair Provide Dispatch System for Seamless First Responder Critical Communications

Raytheon Company and Twisted Pair Solutions, a Seattle-based provider of mission-critical solutions for secure, real-time communication, today unveiled a next-generation dispatch system deployed for the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff. This state-of-the-art dispatch center is one of the first in the nation to be purely IP-based and supports the use of smartphones and tablets for seamless first responder critical communications, anywhere, on any device.

Second MUOS Satellite for Secure, Prioritized Voice and Data Communications Launched

The second Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite built by Lockheed Martin for the U.S. Navy is responding to commands after being launched today from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. The Lockheed Martin-led initialization team is now commanding the satellite from the Naval Satellite Operations Center located at the Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, Calif.

CommAgility Introduces High Performance DSP Processing Module in Compact AMC Form Factor

CommAgility today announced the AMC-4C6678, a high performance DSP processing module in the compact Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) form factor. The new board provides four of the latest TMS320C6678 fixed- and floating-point octal core DSPs from Texas Instruments (TI) running at 1.25 GHz, giving a total performance of 640 GFLOPS and 1280 GMACS. It is ideal for a range of high performance DSP applications, including image sensor processing, telecoms and stepper control.

TI Introduces New High-Speed Differential Amplifiers

Texas Instruments (TI) today expanded its high-speed amplifier portfolio with two new differential amplifiers that offer the industry's best power-to-performance ratio. The single-channel THS4531A and dual THS4532 achieve seven times the bandwidth with one-fourth of the input referred noise while also reducing power consumption by 80 percent, compared to the nearest competitor.

IHS Battery-Less Wireless Sensor Receives Patent Pending Approval

Intelligent Highway Solutions, Inc., announced that it has received its patent pending approval for a battery-less wireless sensor that can be embedded in the road and used to measure traffic flow rate, speed and approximate vehicle weight. Compared to existing inductive loop based traffic sensors, the new sensor is expected to provide increased reliability, easy installation and low maintenance costs.

Raytheon Delivers Cooling Equipment Unit for AN/TPY-2 Ballistic Missile Defense Radar

The Missile Defense Agency will soon have available a deployment-ready AN/TPY-2 ballistic missile defense radar to help counter the more than 6,300 ballistic missiles outside of U.S., NATO, Russian and Chinese control.

An EPFL student has developed a video analysis algorithm able to estimate the level of a driver’s fatigue based on the degree of eyelid closure. PSA Peugeot Citroën, a project partner, has built a prototype in order to test it in real driving conditions.
