UK-based Sarantel has unveiled its new SL1350, a dual band (GPS/2.4GHz) antenna based on its SL1300 LBS Pro antenna, and the SL1250 antenna (based on SL1200 antenna series). Both antennas employ a redesigned connectorisation system that improves performance and mechanical properties, thereby providing a GPS antenna solution that is both affordable and simple to integrate.

LumaSense Technologies has launched the IGA 320/23-LO, the fiber optic technology version of the well-proven IGA 320/23 pyrometer, through which customers can better regulate their production processes.
Waterfall Security Solutions, a supplier of Unidirectional Security Gateways for critical infrastructure networks, has received patent 8,223,205 for "A Secure Implementation of Network-Based Sensors" from the United States Patent Office. The patent represents feeding of data from network-based security sensors like video cameras on control system networks, within security operations centers on less-secure networks, thereby ensuring and sustaining the safety and reliability of the sensor network.

United Microelectronics, a well-established global semiconductor company, has declared a joint effort with STMicroelectronics for backside illumination (BSI)-based 65nm CMOS image sensor technology. After the two companies proved their success in manufacturing ST's front-side illumination (FSI) processes at UMC's 300mm Fab 12i in Singapore, this collaboration was achieved. Developed at Fab12i, the 1.1um px BSI process will also be offered as an open platform to advance future smartphone generations entailing improved resolution and picture quality greater than 10MP.

The Siemens Building Technologies Division has added new flow sensors and flow switches ensuring highest measuring quality in liquid flow applications, complementing Symaro line of sensors. The line also includes new output variants of the QVM62.1 air velocity sensor. Siemens currently provides wide range of sensors for all standard HVAC measuring ranges.
As part of her PhD thesis titled ‘Contribution to the development of optical networks for fiber Optics sensors using fiber lasers,’ Montserrat Fernández-Vallejo, a graduate from the UPNA-Public University of Navarre, has experimentally created different fiber-optic sensor networks with a multiplexing capability to remotely monitor large infrastructures.
