Semtech, a supplier of mixed-signal and analog semiconductors has declared the launch of an ultra-low power capacitive proximity sensor having on-chip specific absorption rate (SAR) engine for detecting the human body. This is probably the first economical and robust sensor that can accurately differentiate between an inert material and the human body. This innovative feature enables tablet and mobile PC manufacturers to be in line with SAR regulation for optimized voice and data communication quality of service.
