Ball Aerospace to Contribute BCP 5000 for WorldView-3 Mission

Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corp. will fabricate a commercial, subsequent generation satellite with remote-sensing capability for DigitalGlobe, a global provider of geospatial information products and satellite resolution imagery.

Ball Aerospace has already constructed three DigitalGlobe satellites which are orbiting at present and includes the QuickBird which has been propelled in 2001, WorldView-1 in 2007 and WorldView-2 in 2009. WorldView-3, which is likely to be launched in 2014, will strengthen the orbiting constellation of DigitalGlobe by the additional four remote-sensing spacecrafts.

Taylor, President and CEO , Ball Aerospace commented that Ball’s association with DigitalGlobe will boost the success of the space mission as well as its operation in accomplishing the image collection of the earth and the field-tested satellite-bus, BCP 5000which ensures full capability, security and novelty in meeting all the necessary requirements.

Ball Aerospace will contribute the innovative remote-sensing device integrated BCP 5000 spacecraft-bus to WorldView-3 satellite and execute all the system validation trials. The potency, durability, agility and data reposition and transmission capacity of the BCP 5000 offers entire remote-sensing data of the earth. The improved Control Moment Gyroscopes equipped with all the WorldView satellites permits agility and sensitivity to trace more imagery.

The technological advancements promote Ball Aerospace to achieve commercial missions like WorldView-3, reducing the expenditure and risks and rapid provision to the clients. The imaging system for WorldView-3 mission will be fabricated by ITT Corporation.
