Nexceris, TFactory, Announce Strategic Partnership for Exclusive Distribution of Li-Ion Tamer® in South Korea

On Wednesday, February 13, Nexceris and Technology Factory (TFactory) signed an agreement that grants TFactory exclusive distribution rights for Li-ion Tamer® in South Korea. With this lithium-ion battery monitor, the partnership leverages each company’s unique strengths and assets to make energy storage safer in South Korea. Together Nexceris and TFactory will create a new paradigm of lithium-ion battery safety that enables the secure deployment of energy storage.

Kyle Shen, CEO, and Randall Stacy, CCO, of Nexceris along with Hyung-Seok Choi, CEO, and Ju Kwang Lee, Managing Director, of TFactory are eager to deliver advanced safety diagnostics to the growing energy storage requirements of South Korea.

Nexceris CCO, Randall Stacy said, “This partnership with TFactory will enable us to deliver Li-ion Tamer® technology with a partner committed to the safe deployment of energy storage in South Korea. TFactory shares our values for advancing innovation, safety and clean energy.”

TFactory CEO, Hyung-Seok Choi said, “The partnership with Nexceris will provide the added technology that allows us to leverage both chemical and electrical solutions for another layer of safety regarding the ESS fire issue. We are very fortunate to be working together to accomplish this goal and pave a safer way for energy storage. The TFactory team looks forward to our collaborations with Nexceris.”

Positive Customer Impact

The origin of our collaboration was a shared vision to address safety concerns related to fires in energy storage markets. Our goal is to immediately arm several energy storage systems in South Korea for the purpose of demonstrating the effectiveness of Li-ion Tamer® technology. TFactory will work with all stakeholders in South Korea to advance safety and promote energy storage.

About Li-ion Tamer®

Li-ion Tamer® is a gas detection system developed specifically for lithium-ion batteries. It increases the safety of lithium-ion battery systems by detecting precursors of abuse that can lead to actions that would prevent fires caused by thermal runaway. As lithium-ion batteries begin to fail, they increase internal cell pressure through a variety of mechanisms caused by abuse imposed on the cell. The pressure increase in the cell will eventually result in a venting of the internal gases – the off-gas event. If left unchecked the cell will eventually catch on fire during thermal runaway. The Li-ion Tamer® off-gas detection technology is designed to detect when the cells vent gases which typically occurs 2-30 minutes prior to a fire or thermal runaway. The incipient fault detection provided by this method of off-gas detection can alert the battery system that failure is imminent, and the system should be shut down to mitigate the risk of a system fire.
