Ametek Acquires Atlas Materials Testing to Advance Business

Ametek has acquired Chicago-based Atlas Material Testing Technology, which provides testing devices, for $159 million from Industrial Growth Partners (IPG). Atlas Material Testing Technology’s testing equipment is used for simulating elevated corrosion and weathering.

San Francisco-oriented IPG, a global private equity sector, possesses Xaloy, a screw and barrel fabricator based in New Castle. IPG had bought Atlas Material Testing and Xaloy in the year 2008.

Following the acquisition, Atlas Material Testing has been integrated with the Measurement & Calibration Technologies Division of Ametek, a Paoli-oriented industrial solutions provider. Ametek’s Measurement & Calibration Technologies Division manufactures systems for various testing including hardness and force testing; devices for measuring pressure, temperature, and signal calibration; and sensing units for level, position, pressure, and temperature.
