Honeywell Releases Micropower Omnipolar Digital Hall-Effect Sensor ICs

Honeywell has released the SL353 range of Micropower Omnipolar digital hall-effect sensor ICs. Its BiCMOS IC layout has enabled additional performance and also minimized the IC size.

The SL353 Series ICs require 2.2 Vdc of voltage and minimum average electricity. The SL353LT, the basic version of SL353 series, requires 1.8 µA of electricity. The SL353 series also lowers power requirement, prolongs battery life and improves energy efficiency.

The ICs come in two duty cycle configurations and can be utilized in applications involving low power. The SL353HT includes 13% heavy duty cycle and low current drain of 2.8 Vdc and 0.33 mA for utilizing in low-energy products demanding elevated switching frequencies.

The SL353LT has a low duty cycle of 0.013% and low current drain of 1.8 µA and 2.8 Vdc. It offers prolonged battery life and can be utilized in battery-driven movable applications. The SL353 Series features an integrated timing circuit that turns on the current to IC for a short period and turns off for the rest of the time, thereby minimizing the overall power consumption.

The push-pull output removes the need for an exterior pull-up resistor that easily interfaces with standard electrical circuitry. It minimizes the overhead cost and space occupied by PC board with the help of non-chopper stabilized layout that eliminates the requirement for filter to reduce the noise produced by this method.

The completely integrated sensor circuit offers reliable functioning over a broad range of temperature between -40°C and 85°C. In addition, since these sensors are manipulated by North or South poles, recognition of magnet polarity is not required. This enables simple installation and minimum system costs.

The size of the SOT-23 sub-miniature package needs minimum space for PC board, enabling its use in compact assemblies. The sensors are offered on tape and reel that facilitates a smaller design with automatic positioning of component, thereby significantly lowering production costs.
