VTI Announces Mass Production of CMR3000 Gyro Sensor

VTI Technologies announced that it has commenced volume generation of its CMR3000 Gyro Sensor, the first low power compact angular rate sensor. The digital output 3-axis sensor is exclusively developed for game and user interface applications.

iSuppli’s market forecasts have predicted that the market for 3-axis gyroscope sensor will be over 200 million pieces in 2011. The market growth is mainly contributed by tablet PCs, smart phones, gaming and other latest applications.

In 2010, the company extended its product portfolio to cope with the growing demand in the consumer electronics segment. Last year, VTI launched the CMR3000 gyro sensor and after receiving positive response from the market, the company decided to commence volume production of the sensor.

VTI’s Product Manager, Pekka Kostiainen stated that minimum power utilization, superior sensitivity stability and compact size of the CMR3000 can easily cope with the needs of consumer electronics’ developers. Kostiainen added that the measurement range of the CMR3000 is +/- 2000 dps and has measurement bandwidths that can be selected by users. In mobile phones, the wafer level package facilitates the compact size measuring 3.1x4.2x0.8 mm3 along with digital I2C and SPI interfaces.

In market, the significant requirement for 3-axis gyroscopes is increasing concerns regarding the availability of their parts. The compact size of the CMR3000 and IOs’ position facilitate the option of incorporating third party sensor into the same design, offering an ideal solution to clients with second source needs.

The company is offering HW and SW assistance to its clients to enable convenient implementation of the CMR3000. For instance, an Android driver can be availed along with the documentation, library and demo applications. In addition, the company helps clients to enhance sensor signal processing for their application.
