AuthenTec Introduces Multifunction Fingerprint Sensor for Tablets and Notebook PCs

AuthenTec has introduced a highly durable multifunction fingerprint sensor for Tablets and Notebook PCs. The new AES2665 smart sensor is integrated in the AuthenTec’s durable TouchStone™ package module. The sensor enhances security, aesthetics and touch powered conveniences of the PC and Tablet users.

The sensor allows users to experience personalization and LED feedback in a seamless manner. The Vice President of Smart Sensor Solutions at AuthenTec, Art Stewart said that the newest sensor module adds to the industry's largest portfolio of fingerprint sensors for laptops, tablets and mobile devices, and combines the best features and functions of our smart sensors with our smooth and durable TouchStone(TM) packaging.

He added that they had already begun volume shipments of this attractive and versatile module for new consumer notebooks, and as they moved through 2011 they will be shipping their smart sensors to all of the top ten PC OEMs that offer models with fingerprint sensors.

The AES2665 sensor module includes a bi-color programmable LED which provides users with quick visual feedback on sensor functions. Smart sensor features and functions are fully optimized when used on a PC equipped with AuthenTec's TrueSuite(TM) and HP SimplePass 2011 identity management software.
