ExactComp EC80 Flow Signal Processor from COX Flow Measurement

A flow measurement instruments provider, COX Flow Measurement has added the ExactComp EC80 Flow Computer or signal processor to its product offering. The advanced flow computer functions as the engine for various turbine meter products developed by COX.

Designed to improve the performance of frequency output flowmeters in changing fluid flow conditions, ExactComp EC80’s firmware conforms to SAE ARP 4990 calculations of temperature compensation.

Designed to significantly improve the flow algorithms, hardware platforms and processor speeds, the ExactComp EC80 is best suited for industrial processing, automotive, aerospace as well as test & measurement industries. The compact design of the signal processor accepts 10- and 4-ohm pick-offs. Inputs for dual rotor frequency and RTD temperature sensors are also featured.

The flow computer uses rolling average output with selectable blade averaging to track all variables to provide compensation for rotor blade variations and viscosity. Enhanced digital signal processing (DSP) technology allows for signal characterization by use of a 32-bit floating point processor operated at 150 MHz with 100 µS process latency. Signal conditioning for temperature, flow and high-sensitivity pick offs can be performed without any ancillary electronics or external amplifiers through a single device.

With a linear frequency output uncertainty of ±0.1 percent of reading, the ExactComp EC80 provides a constant K factor facilitating meter interchangeability and features a user-friendly interface. The device is capable of recalling setup information and data points for meter calibration. The graphical interface software allows for strong characterization of output signals, liquid properties and output signals. The features of the EC80 software includes configuration of output channels, fluid property data, identification and comments, configuration screens, blade averaging and smoothing, data logging, direct storage of configuration, instantaneous data and RTD calibration table.
