Delta Air Lines headquartered in Atlanta, has announced the launch of a cargo tracking service. The new service allows its customer to track its time-sensitive and high value shipments with GPS monitoring devices.
The service will be available on all mainline flights in the carrier’s global network and will soon be extended to Delta Connection carrier flights.
The Senior Vice President of Delta Cargo, Neel Shah stated that the GPS tracking support will provide Delta customers with greater visibility throughout the shipment’s lifecycle. The added GPS monitoring service will ensure that customers are continually offered essential products and services complementing its extensive superior-class network. GPS tracking support expands the existing product offering and provides enhanced visibility on high value express and premium products such as pharmaceuticals, human organs, movie films or engineering prototypes.
An additional level of transparency and reliability is also provided to the customer. GPS monitoring is supplementary to the considerable investments made by Delta in planeside and warehouse scanning. Although the customer will need to supply the tracking device, tracking technology will be installed in all Delta Cargo call centers to enable the monitoring of the GPS-equipped shipments and to enable close co-ordination with customers..
