Sierra Instruments Introduces Novel Series of Portable Ultrasonic Flow Meters

A high performance flow instrumentation manufacturer, Sierra Instruments has added to its range of ultrasonic, transit-time flow meters with the portable Innova-Sonic 210i models, the next generation of the Innova-Sonic 205i and the Innova-Sonic 203.

Innova-Sonic Transit-Time Ultrasonic Flowmeters

The Innova-Sonic 203 is a low cost yet feature-rich flow meter that offers highly reliable clamped-on ultrasonic metering. The optimized design of the 203 focuses on water flow measurement in water-based applications such as HVAC and irrigation. It is best suited for pipes with 48-inch diameter and offers a reading with +/-0.3 percent repeatability and +/-1.0 percent accuracy. It can be operated in a temperature range of 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F). The Innova-Sonic 203 features an easy-to-read display and user-friendly selections making it a convenient instrument that can be configured using a keypad.

The Innova-Sonic 205i is a clamp-on flow meter with digital signal processing technology that offers +/-0.5 percent of reading accuracy, +/-0.15 percent of reading repeatability and increased pipe capacity. The main interface features shortcut buttons for velocity, flow, fluid, totalized flow, diagnostics and signal ease the process of data collection and set up. The 205i also provides added flexibility with insertion and clamp-on options. It also features an alpha numeric display, configurable pulse frequency, open collector outputs, analog outputs and parallel operation of net, positive and negative totalizers. Energy monitoring is supported for both cooling and heating applications.

The portable 210i clamp-on ultrasonic meter has been repackaged into a hand-held, compact and lightweight configuration with pushbuttons and a brighter display. It features an easy-to-use programming menu that incorporates negative total, positive total, net total, flow rate, daily flow, date & time and velocity results. High-capacity data logging feature is enabled with the 1GB SD memory chip and a lithium-ion battery that supports 16 hours of continuous operation. The field-portable and lightweight 210i is a self-reliant flow measurement unit that is available with non-invasive transducers, a start-up CD, a coupling compound and a carrying case. The clamp on 210i meter can be set up within five minutes.
