Valencell’s Licensable Fitness Sensor Technology Receives Validation from ACSM and NIH

Valencell’s licensable fitness sensor technology has reached a significant milestone by achieving a unique validation by a study presented at the annual conference of American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

The testing of this validation was supported by a National Institute of Health (NIH) Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.

V-LINC, a sensor technology from Valencell, will be rebranded as PerformTek in order to highlight the combination of Valencell’s biometric firmware technology and cutting edge sensors.

The accuracy of Valencell's technology was further validated by Meir Magal, Associate Professor of Exercise Science at North Carolina Wesleyan College (NCWC). Magal’s study proved that Valencell’s earbud sensors were a reliable and valuable instrument to measure the heart rate in a continuous manner during exercise. These earbud sensors correlated to the heart rate measurement derived from a twelve lead electrocardiogram. The Human Performance Laboratory located at NCWC collected the data of this study.

The resting metabolic rate (RMR) of an individual can be accurately evaluated by Valencell's technology that can also track the amount of calories burned every day while exercising.

Dr. Steven LeBoeuf, co-founder and CEO, stated that Magal’s study has clinically proved that the heart rate of an individual can be accurately and continuously tracked by a noninvasive earbud-based heart rate sensor.
