Measurement Specialties Unveils New Digital Output Pressure Sensor

Measurement Specialties has launched its new 86BSD media isolated digital output pressure sensor. Equipping this compactly-designed 16mm, ASIC calibrated pirezoresistive silicon pressure sensor with an o-ring seal, makes it ideal for low pressure, high performance applications.

The sensor uses silicone oil to shift pressure from its 316L stainless steel diaphragm to its sensing element. The 86BSD is a unique standalone pressure component in the market.

The device has been designed in a backside, header-less configuration having a pressure range of 1 – 300psi in either gage reference or absolute type. Capable of efficient operation from -40°C to +125°C, the 86BSD includes ±1.0 TEB (Total Error Band), pressure as well as temperature read-out capabilities. It includes ±0.1% non-linearity in addition to delivering a digital output of 10~90% or 5~95% in I2C or SPI interface protocols. The 86BSD is available with pads or a cable/connector, and a low power option, with a supply voltage of either 3.3 or 5.0 V dc.

This newly-released backside digital output pressure sensor serves a wide range of applications including sealed systems, level controls, tank level measurement, barometric pressure measurement, OEM equipment, corrosive fluids and gas measurement systems, manifold pressure measurement, and submersible depth monitoring. Measurement Specialties works closely with its designers to fulfill specific needs for their application purposes.

Measurement Specialties designs and develops sensors and sensor-based systems, creating a broad range of sensors and transducers based on multiple advanced technologies for the measurement of precise ranges of physical characteristics like position, pressure, force, temperature, vibration, and torque, to name a few.
