SMS Alarming and Remote Control - New GSM Control Device by CAS DataLoggers

CAS DataLoggers and Infinite introduce a new alarming and remote control solution: the new ARC-10 GSM controller is a top quality, easy to use device using SMS for long-distance applications.

The rail mount unit incorporates a Quad Band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) GSM/GPRS modem, 2 digital inputs, 2 power relay outputs and a serial RS-232 port. Up to 500 users can be configured to switch a relay output with a toll-free phone call (e.g. for opening a garage door or a gate barrier). As many as 10 users can be configured as alarm recipients, providing flexible user administration.

All SMS functionality remains intact during GPRS operation. This means that users can employ the unit as a wireless modem to communicate with a remote serial device, such as a traffic light controller or a vending machine, and simultaneously benefit from the SMS alarming and remote control functionality.

Simple Setup and Operation

All setup and control can be done over a mobile phone. Simple ASCII configuration commands are used for unit setup and control, and several commands can be packed into one SMS. The RS-232 interface can be used to alternatively setup and test the unit using a PC or an ASCII terminal. The rich command set features commands for configuring input alarm parameters, defining users and controlling system outputs with time related parameters.

Using this remote monitoring and alarming solution, users can monitor and control their critical applications in factory automation, building automation & home automation, gas distribution, telecom & IT, and more. The ARC-10 can also interface with security systems, light/heating controls, and environmental controls in greenhouses.

ARC-10 Smartphone Apps for iPhone and Android

Third-party applications are downloadable online for Apple iPhone and Android smartphones. The apps provide a user friendly interface for sending commands and receiving alarms to/from the ARC-10 GSM controller. These applications feature 2 operating modes: an administration page for the setup and configuration of several remote devices, and a control page for normal usage actions such as remote control and real time monitoring. Users can switch between the administration and the control page by swiping a finger on the left or right, the same as on the home screen pages.
