In addition to the original 6U CompactPCI (C660) version, Aitech now offers managed Gigabit Ethernet switches in 6U VPX (C670), 3U VPX (C680) and XMC (M620) formats. The new rugged switches provide reliable operation in all harsh environments across several military, rugged and industrial applications.

Each managed switch product supports the same protocols and network services, in addition to a simplified HTML browser-based interface, enabling the user to easily manage the switch's comprehensive feature set for a better optimized network. Using the Marvell Prestera 98DX4122 multi-layer switch packet controller, the switches perform Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing and switching.

The switches feature a host of board management devices such as power controller, elapsed time recorder and temperature sensors as well as several monitoring devices including CPU, port and TCAM utilization.

The Aitech GbE Switch Family consists of the following highly integrated products:

C660 6U cPCI GigE Switch

  • 24 GbE ports
    • 24 x 10/100/1000Base-T ports
    • 8 of the 24 can be 1000Base-X SERDES ports
    • 24 x 10/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet ports
  • Four 10 GbE XAUI Ports
  • Expandable to 40 total GbE ports with the M620 XMC

C670 6U VPX GigE Switch

  • 24 GbE ports
    • 24 x 10/100/1000Base-T ports
    • 8 of the 24 can be 1000Base-X SERDES ports
    • 24 x 10/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet ports
  • Four 10 GbE XAUI Ports
  • Expandable to 40 total GbE ports with the M620 XMC

C680 3U VPX GigE Switch

  • Up to 24 Fast/Gigabit Ethernet ports in three standard configurations
    • 12 x 10/100/1000Base-T ports
    • 24 x 1000Base-BX/KX SERDES ports
    • 24 x 10/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet ports
  • Two 10 GbE ports

M620 XMC GigE Switch

  • Up to 16 Fast/Gigabit Ethernet ports in three standard configurations
    • 8 x 10/100/1000Base-T ports
    • 16 x 1000Base-BX/KX SERDES ports
    • 16 x 10/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet ports
  • Two 10 GbE XAUI ports, VITA 42.6 compliant (optional)

Designed for high performance in rugged environments, these switches incorporate an integrated low power ARM-compatible Sheeva CPU core. Operating at 800 MHz, the CPU core functions as a service processor and interfaces to a high speed DDRII-320 MHz memory controller.

Features of each port include auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX support as well as head of line (HOL) blocking prevention. VLAN and port mirroring are also included.

Each GbE switch is available in five 100% software compatible environmental build-grades:

  • Air-cooled commercial (0 degrees C to 50 degrees C),
  • Air-cooled rugged (-40 degrees C to +71 degrees C)
  • Conduction-cooled rugged (-40 degrees C to +71 degrees C)
  • Full military air-cooled (-55 degrees C to +85 degrees C)
  • Full military conduction-cooled (-55 degrees C to +85 degrees C)
