EDN Names Intersil's Radiation Hardened Temperature Sensor among Hot 100 Products of 2014

Intersil Corporation, a leading provider of innovative power management and precision analog solutions today announced that EDN named the ISL71590SEH radiation hardened (rad hard) temperature sensor as one of the Hot 100 Products of 2014.

EDN named Intersil's ISL71590SEH radiation hardened temperature sensor as one of the Hot 100 Products of 2014. The 2014 EDN Hot 100 highlights the electronics industry's most significant products of the year based on innovation, significance, usefulness, and popularity.

The 2014 EDN Hot 100 highlights the electronics industry's most significant products of the year based on innovation, significance, usefulness, and popularity. The ISL71590SEH was recognized in the Analog category.

The ISL71590SEH is a 2-terminal, rad hard temperature-to-current transducer that delivers a high level of accuracy over radiation exposure, time and temperature. Developers of the most advanced satellite systems require temperature sensors that provide accuracy over the mission life of a satellite, eliminating the need for expensive radiation lot acceptance testing or spot shielding. With the ISL71590SEH's +/-1.7°C accuracy over temperature and less than -1°C change in accuracy over low dose rate radiation, the device is able to serve satellite temperature sensing functions that support most of a system's telemetry data and calibration accuracy. Accuracy and linearity is assured over the full military temperature range, as well as over 50krad (Si) low dose rate and 300krad (Si) high dose rate irradiation. "The recognition as one of EDN's Hot 100 products is an honor and reflects the focus on innovation we have in the military and aerospace markets," said Philip Chesley, vice president of Precision Products for Intersil. "Intersil's strong heritage in the space and defense industries spans six decades, beginning with the founding of Radiation, Inc. in 1950. Since then, virtually every satellite, shuttle launch and deep space mission has included Intersil products."

"Of the many thousands of products announced during the past year, the EDN Hot 100 are the products that especially caught the attention of our editors and readers. We are pleased to share the tradition of showcasing these technologies as we celebrate the 21st anniversary of this program," said Rich Pell, Executive and Chief Technical Editor, EDN."
