MWC 2015: Huawei Highlights Innovative Smart Wearable Devices

Mobile World Congress 2015: Sensirion to Showcase New Gas and Barometric Pressure Sensors

At the 2015 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, the leading sensor manufacturer Sensirion will present a new multi-pixel gas sensor, plus a new barometric pressure sensor. Both new sensors, which rank among the smallest yet most accurate in their class worldwide, are capable of measuring indoor air quality (IAQ), the gases in a person's breath, and barometric air pressure, as required for indoor navigation applications.

Toshiba Announces Development of New Image Recognition Processor that Detects Vehicles, Pedestrians at Night

Toshiba Corporation today announced the development of TMPV7608XBG, an image recognition processor that provides high accuracy recognition and detection of vehicles and pedestrians at night. This sample shipment started in January. This performance is achieved with a device that can carry out 1.9 Tera operations per second (TOPS) and that integrates four new feature descriptors that make use of color-based image information.

Utah Engineers Develop Inkjet Printed Filters Capable of Separating Different Terahertz Frequencies

University of Utah engineers have discovered a new approach for designing filters capable of separating different frequencies in the terahertz spectrum, the next generation of communications bandwidth that could allow cellphone users and Internet surfers to download data a thousand times faster than today. Once the filter is designed, it can be fabricated using an off-the-shelf inkjet printer.

SMIC, Cista System Achieve Mass Production for Two CIS-BSI Technology Products

Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation ("SMIC") the largest and most advanced pure-play foundry provider in China, and Cista System Corp. a fabless semiconductor company that specializes in CMOS Image Sensors (CIS) and System on Chip (SoC) designs, have jointly announced the achievement of mass production for two CIS-BSI products, of 1.3MP resolution with 1.75-micron pixel and 8MP resolution with 1.4-micron pixel, respectively. Both sensors are based on SMIC's independently developed 0.13-micron BSI technology platform.
