VectorNav Technologies has released VN-200, a GPS-Aided Inertial Navigation System (GPS/INS) on a chip. Claimed to be the first such system on a stamp-sized chip, it consists of an advanced GPS module featuring sophisticated MEMS inertial and pressure sensor technology.
A novel vision sensor has been developed by DENSO which is nearly half the size of its predecessors. The novel sensor that finds applications in active safety systems having Lane Departure Warning (LDW) Systems and Automatic High Beam (AHB) Control Systems is very compact. Furthermore, the sensor can function at a high operating temperature when compared to its predecessors, which is believed to be one of the highest operating temperatures of a vision sensor.

Semtech, a supplier of mixed-signal and analog semiconductors has declared the launch of an ultra-low power capacitive proximity sensor having on-chip specific absorption rate (SAR) engine for detecting the human body. This is probably the first economical and robust sensor that can accurately differentiate between an inert material and the human body. This innovative feature enables tablet and mobile PC manufacturers to be in line with SAR regulation for optimized voice and data communication quality of service.
