Yokogawa Introduces Compact Dual Bent Tube Coriolis Mass Flowmeter

Yokogawa Electric declared that it will launch ROTAMASS LR, which is the smallest dual bent tube Coriolis mass flowmeter.

Based on a proven dual bent tube and self-draining design, the new ROTAMASS LR complements the company’s ROTAMASS Low Flow Line portfolio for liquid and gas flow measurement.

This compact design can be adapted for measuring liquids as well as gases. The ROTAMASS LR has effective turndown of 5,000:1 for gases and 2,000:1 for liquids. The mass flow measurement range extends from 10.5 g/h up to 40 kg/h, with a precision measurement ±0.5% for gases and ±0.15% for liquids.

The Coriolis flowmeter market is growing further and several research reports have shown that smaller devices with a 2-in or less bore diameter is under high demand. Also, low flow measurement solutions of increased stability and precision are also in huge demand. At present, single tube detectors are being deployed by most of the small Coriolis flowmeters on the market. These devices are less stable and less precise under conditions such as vibration and alterations in the ambient or fluid temperature. Yokogawa’s new dual bent tube detector design-based low flow Coriolis flowmeter will cater to the requirement of stable and precise measurement of fluids at low flow rates.

The ROTAMASS LR uses a dual bent tube, through which the process vibration’s core measuring element decouples optimally. Fluctuation in fluid density enables a single tube Coriolis flowmeter to act as an emitter. The equal mass change in the two tubes and the lack of interference from the process piping keep the ROTAMASS LR stable. The design ensures excellent zero stability under altering process conditions and ROTAMASS LR is not affected by fluctuations in the ambient temperature. The two tubes are created from C-22 alloy and are therefore safe from thermal expansion.

The ROTAMASS LR’s inline temperature sensor enables achieving quick and precise measurements in process temperatures which range from -50°C to +150°C.

The ROTAMASS LR is enclosed in a robust, gas-tight, all-stainless-steel secondary housing capable of handling pressures up to 65 bar. The ROTAMASS LR is effective for use in high pressure applications up to 400 bar.

In addition, insulation and a heat jacket can be used optionally.

The key target market for this product includes pharmaceutical plants, chemical research laboratories, and chemical plants, where it can be used for chemical injection, liquid and gas low flow measurement, metering pump control, high pressure gas pipelines, vacuum thin film coating, micro dosing systems, blending, and precision coating.
