EVT Introduces EyeMount Mounting and Positioning System for Vision Sensors and Cameras

For mounting cameras, vision sensors, mini-PC, displays and lighting for machine vision, EVT presents now EyeMount. The mounting and positioning system disposes the usual flaws of the conventional fixtures. EyeMount offers a permanent fixation of the monitoring unit. It is also possible to carry out an aligned adjustment, without an involuntary rotary movement. The mounting is also very easy. This means that the positioning can be reproduced and the for mounting and adjustment the user only needs two Allen keys.

Researchers Develop Ultrathin, Skin-Conforming Sensor for Precise Monitoring of Blood Flow

Frequent measurement of blood flow changes could improve the ability of health care providers to diagnose and treat patients with vascular conditions, such as those associated with diabetes and high blood pressure. A U.S.-Chinese team that included researchers from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, both parts of the National Institutes of Health, conducted a pilot study showing that an ultrathin, skin-conforming sensor—resembling a peel-away tattoo—provides non-invasive, precise, and continuous monitoring of circulation, including blood flow within the smallest vessels.

Synthetically Engineered Biosensors Facilitate Molecule Detection Using Living Eukaryotic Cells

Synthetically engineered biosensors, which can be designed to detect and signal the presence of specific small molecule compounds, have already unlocked many potential applications by harnessing bacterial cells such as E. coli to sense toxins or enable bioproduction of valuable commodities including fuel, plastics, and pharmaceuticals. As of yet, however, scientists have been challenged to leverage biosensors for use in eukaryotic cells — which comprise yeast, plants and animals — because strategies-to-date are limited in the molecules they can detect and the signals they can produce.
