Kratos Awarded $5.49 Million Contract for Oriole Thrust Vector Control Systems

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc., a leading National Security Solutions provider, announced today that its Defense & Rocket Support Services (DRSS) Division has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division for Oriole Thrust Vector Control (TVC) Systems valued at $5.49 million.

Differential Immuno-Capture Technology-Based Biosensor to Detect Sub-Populations of White Blood Cells

Researchers from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have developed a highly sensitive biosensor based on a differential immuno-capture technology that can detect sub-populations of white blood cells. As part of a small, disposable biochip, the microfluidic biosensor can count CD4+/CD8+ T cells quickly and accurately for AIDS diagnosis in the field. This is a follow-up of the work earlier published by the group in Science Translational Medicine.

User-Friendly Framework for Conducting Data Analytics Across Multiple IoT Devices

The Internet of Things promises to improve our lives by connecting sensors in the objects that surround us - buildings, appliances, gadgets, and vehicles - and the data that they collect. But to realize that potential, programmers need tools that make it easier to create applications that combine devices and the cloud. With the support of the National Science Foundation (NSF), researcher Stacy Patterson is building those tools and developing a framework that developers can use to easily perform data analytics over a multitude of devices.

The new compact, high performance eddy current sensor from Micro-Epsilon boasts features that surpass those of its competitors. Designed for fast, high precision displacement, distance and position measurements, the eddyNCDT 3005 system comes with active temperature compensation, is pressure-resistant up to 10 bar and can withstand operating temperatures of up to 180°C due to the compact electronic housing being integrated into the cable one metre from the sensor head. The system is factory-calibrated, making it ideal for machine integration, as well as for single or volume OEM requirements.
