EMERGE Program Participants to Demonstrate Wearable Technologies for First Responders

PARC Successfully Tests Next-Generation Fiber-Optic Sensing Battery Management System

PARC, a Xerox company, today announced successful initial module-level testing of SENSOR, a next-generation fiber-optic sensing battery management system, with initial focus on hybrid and electric vehicles (xEVs), developed in collaboration with LG Chem Power. The project is funded under the US Department of Energy's Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) within the Advanced Management and Protection of Energy Storage Devices (AMPED) program.

VTT Develops Wearable Sensor Technology to Improve Sports Performance

In cooperation with Finland's national swimming team and archery association, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has developed wearable technology for improving sports performance. Wearable sensors can be attached to, say, a swimmer's hand paddles or an archers' equipment. From there, data is wirelessly transferred to the coach's smartphone or tablet.

Kistler Receives OIML Certificate for Vehicle Weigh in Motion Strip Sensor System

Kistler is the first WIM (Weigh In Motion) manufacturer to receive a certificate from the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) for vehicle weighing with strip sensors at speeds from 3 to 65 km/h. As OIML R-134 is the international metrology standard for legal weighing applications, the certificate paves the way for the use of Kistler WIM systems in applications such as weight-based toll collection and automatic weight enforcement.
