TI Introduces Wideband Frequency Synthesizer with Lowest Phase Noise

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) today introduced a wideband frequency synthesizer with integrated voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) that delivers the industry's lowest phase noise. Its combination of ultra-low noise phase-locked loop (PLL) and industry's highest phase detector frequency outperforms the competition in both phase noise and spurs.

Pinnacle Places Order for SST’s Wireless Industrial Heat Detection Systems

Pinnacle Renewable Energy Group www.pinnaclepellet.com has ordered a “Wireless Industrial Heat Detection System” from SST Wireless Inc. for all 6 production facilities throughout Western Canada. The milestone order came after a successful pilot in their Armstrong pellet mill. The wireless transmitters are being used to detect changes in temperature directly in the bearing shafts used in the milling process.

DNA Chip with 32 Polymorphisms May Help Diagnose ADHD

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is the most common childhood neuropsychiatric disorder. Yet there is currently no tool that will confirm the diagnosis of ADHD. In her thesis entitled “Development of a genotyping system to be applied in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and its Pharmacogenetics" (“Desarrollo de un sistema de genotipado para la aplicación en el ‘trastorno por déficit de atención con hiperactividad’ y su farmacogenética”), the researcher Alaitz Molano, a graduate in biochemistry and PhD holder in Pharmacology from the UPV/EHU-University of the Basque Country, presents a tool that could improve not only the diagnosis of but also the therapeutics for this disorder.

Imec and PVA Tepla Use GHz SAM Technology to Detect TSV Voids at Wafer-Level

Imec and PVA Tepla present breakthrough results in the detection of TSV voids in 3D stacked IC technology. After having applied Scanning Acoustic Microscopy to temporary wafer (de)bonding inspection, they successfully used new advanced GHz SAM technology to detect TSV voids at wafer-level after TSV Copper plating. Together, they will continue to investigate the applicability of high-frequency scanning acoustic microscopy for non-destructive submicron void detection.
