AST Sensors Approved for Use on ABS Classed Vessels

American Sensor Technologies has successfully obtained the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) approval for several pressure sensors used in marine and offshore applications that extend distinct advantages when used on ships, barges, offshore oil platforms and desalination.

AST was initially founded in Jan 1997 with the idea of developing MEMS (Micro-Electro mechanical Structures) pressure sensors. AST is located in New Jersey and the products are manufactured under the proprietary Krsytal Bond&trade Technology. The pressure sensors developed at AST are extremely adaptable and so they can be used integrated into many configurations. Apart from the products listed in the standard catalogue they offer to customise according to OEM applications. AST and the founders have many awards and recognitions to their credit including being ranked as ‘The fastest growing private company in US’ and ‘Entrepreneurs of the Year’, in 2007.

AST4000

In the category of room pressure sensors they  have AST4000 UL/cUL 508. These sensors are used in measuring oil, coolant and fuel in the engine room, hydraulics, cranes and desalination equipment.

In the category of sensors used in hazardous area there are the AST4300, AST4310, AST43LP, AST4400, AST4410, AST44LP, AST4600, and AST46HA.These are used in environments such as fuel storage, boiler room, engine control units, and natural gas engines, dual fuel (natural gas/diesel) systems for ships, power generation and energy management.

Under the submersible pressure transducers category they have AST4500, AST4510, and AST4520. These are suited for measuring level of water, fuel, wastewater, desalination systems and ballast.

Finally under differential pressure sensor category they have AST5400. This sensor is used in applications where flow and filtration of water fuel, oil and hydraulics need to be determined.
