Telephonics to Deliver 160 AN/APS-153 Multi-Mode Radar Systems for US Navy

Lockheed Martin Mission Systems & Sensors has awarded the Radar Systems Division of Telephonics with a multi-year production contract. Valued at over $330 million, the full-scale production contract includes engineering support and delivery of 160 AN/APS-153 Multi-Mode Radar systems along with spares, for integration into the advanced mission avionics package and subsequent installation in the MH-60R Romeo helicopter for the US Navy.

German Scientists Use GPS Data to Determine Potential Tsunami after Earthquake

Researchers from the German Research Centre for Geosciences GFZ have recently demonstrated how a potential tsunami warning can be determined using GPS data. The researchers explained that in as little as three minutes, GPS data can be used to gather the spatial distribution and earthquake magnitude, enabling rapid and early warning for coastal areas.
